Base pay range

$160,000.00/yr - $180,000.00/yr

Traffic Infrastructure is a small group being formed to evolve the way Discord handles petabytes of network traffic daily. As a Software Engineer on this team, you'll scale our infrastructure to serve billions of requests per day, defend against malicious traffic and facilitate seamless communication between internal services. You'll maintain critical systems that support nearly every function of our platform, ensuring an efficient and reliable experience for hundreds of millions of users worldwide.

What you'll be doing:

• Become a subject matter expert for network infrastructure on a global scale
• Troubleshoot complex problems across many layers of Discords architecture
• Support the growth and stability of nearly every function of Discord
• Establish primitives that allow other teams to confidently and efficiently serve user requests

What you should have:

• 3+ years of backend software engineering experience.
• Knowledge of networking fundamentals,
• Experience working with cloud providers like GCP or AWS
• Experience validating assumptions with data and digging deeper when results are inconclusive

Bonus Skills:

• Familiarity with Cloud Networking / Service Mesh (e.g. Envoy)
• Experience working with Kubernetes

The US base salary range for this full-time position is $160,000 to $180,000 + equity + benefits. Our salary ranges are determined by role and level. Within the range, individual pay is determined by additional factors, including job-related skills, experience, and relevant education or training. Please note that the compensation details listed in US role postings reflect the base salary only, and do not include equity, or benefits.
