The Opportunity

We are looking for a talented and experienced individual to oversee comprehensive model risk validation throughout the entire lifecycle of models. This role involves conducting in-depth model validation activities and ensuring compliance with established risk policies and procedures. You will maintain strict independence from model stewards throughout all stages of the model's lifecycle, from development through ongoing maintenance.

This position requires you to work in the office 4 days per week. The work can be performed in one of the following locations: San Antonio, TX, Plano, TX, Phoenix, AZ, Colorado Springs, CO, Charlotte, NC, or Tampa, FL.

What you'll do:

  • Execute independent model validation control activities for high-risk in-house and vendor models.
  • Utilize expert technical methodologies to develop and implement comprehensive validation testing plans.
  • Replicate model development and potentially create challenger models using predictive modeling, machine learning, deep learning, time-series forecasting, stress testing, heuristic models, actuarial models, simulations, and optimization techniques.
  • Conduct model testing and data quality assessments across diverse datasets, including large and unstructured datasets.
  • Review the end-to-end lifecycle management of model development, implementation, and ongoing monitoring, specifically in Banking and Insurance (Property & Casualty and Life).
  • Evaluate model inherent risk ratings, material changes, perform model change validations, and provide guidance to validate peers’ work.
  • Produce and present validation reports to model validation management, model partners, senior leadership, and other stakeholders.
  • Implement the model validation process in accordance with risk and compliance policies. Stay professionally updated on emerging modeling techniques and approaches.

What you have:

  • A Bachelor's degree in a quantitative field such as Economics, Mathematics, Statistics, Actuarial Science, Data Science, Engineering, Computer Science, or a related area, or 4 additional years of related experience in lieu of a degree.
  • A minimum of 6 years of relevant experience in model validation, development, statistical analysis, or advanced quantitative research, or an advanced degree with at least 4 years of relevant experience.
  • Strong communication skills to articulate quantitative and technical concepts to non-technical audiences, senior leadership, regulators, and auditors.
  • Proficiency in programming languages such as R, Python, SAS, Java, C, SQL, or others for model and algorithm development.
  • Extensive experience with at least three statistical and predictive modeling techniques such as Unsupervised Learning, K-Means, Linear Regression, Time-Series Forecasting, Logistic Regression, and Neural Networks.
  • Strong understanding of operational and support functions in Banking and/or Insurance analytics.

What sets you apart:

  • Experience in developing and validating AI models, including Generative AI, compliant with Federal Reserve Guidance on Model Risk Management (SR 11-7).
  • Knowledge of data engineering concepts and practices for managing data pipelines and infrastructure.
  • Experience with cloud resource management including Azure and GCP.
  • Familiarity with Disparate Impact/Bias testing methodologies.

Compensation range: The salary range for this position is $127,310.00 - $243,340.00.
