Job Description

The Safety Manager is responsible for executing all aspects of the company's safety programs, including development, implementation, compliance, training and reporting. This role ensures that all areas of the company comply with safety and regulatory requirements while serving as a role model for expected behaviors. Regular travel to our De Pere, WI location is required to support safety oversight and training across sites.

Job Duties Include:

  • Participates in the incident investigation process, including root cause analysis and identification of corrective action plans, and tracks completion of corrective actions.
  • Work with departments to identify and correct safety hazards and develop preventative procedures.
  • Compile, analyze and report safety data to management.
  • Conduct job hazard assessments and recommend control measures, including substitution of less hazardous materials, PPE, work practice changes and engineering controls.
  • Prepare and conduct training classes.
  • Compile and submit OSHA and other required safety reports.
  • Observe workers to determine use of prescribed safety equipment and procedures.
  • Conduct hazard analyses for new products or processes.
  • Maintain hazard analysis and risk assessment records in accordance with all regulatory requirements.
  • Coordinate and conduct safety audits as directed by senior management.
  • Support management in coordinating with local, state and federal regulatory agencies and vendors related to safety and environmental programs.
  • Stay abreast of industry trends to continuously improve safety programs and execution of safety strategy.
  • Create or update internal safety and environmental policies as needed.
  • Lead company safety meetings and maintain related documentation.
  • Prepare and distribute facility-wide safety communications.
  • Train, coach and counsel staff on regulatory compliance and safety awareness.
  • Oversee facility security and related needs.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.

Requirements:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Occupational Health, Safety, or related field or equivalent experience
  • 5 years of safety management and administration in a manufacturing environment including; Federal and state occupational health and safety regulations, Worker’s compensation management, Incident investigation, Safety audits, Data tracking and analysis
  • 2 years of experience with procedural writing.
  • Able to work flexible hours to cover all production shifts.
  • OSHA 30 Certified
  • First Aid/CPR Certified
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite and EHS related systems

Preferred:

  • Master’s degree in EHS or business-related field
  • 1 year of experience facilitating safety training
  • Train-the-Trainer Certification or other safety-related certifications
  • Familiarity with Smartsheet and learning management systems

Physical & Mental Demands:

Sitting for long periods of time, 6-8 hours per day. Walking, speaking, hearing, and seeing. Listen and observe the environment for hazard prevention. Use hands for tools and typing. Semi-frequently lift up to 15 lbs. Some tasks may require the employee to bend, stoop, twist, and turn.

Working Environment:

Indoor working environment. Office is temperature-controlled all year round. Production may be hot in the Summer and temperature-controlled in the Winter. Moving machinery, i.e. forklifts, moveable carts, etc.; uneven ground where cart tracks are identified. Air quality may be dusty and potentially require additional PPE in certain areas. Sound level below 85 decibels except in areas specified as requiring hearing protection.
