Job Description

For this role, you must:

  • Be NBHWC certified
  • Hold a Master's degree in a health or wellness-related field, or a bachelor's degree plus a nationally recognized health-related license or credential (such as RN, RDN, or ATC)
  • Be willing to relocate to Bentonville, Arkansas

Position Overview

UHP is seeking a dynamic and experienced Integrative Health Coach instructor to teach, mentor, and develop students pursuing national board certification in health and wellness coaching. This full-time, in-person role is a mission-driven opportunity to shape the future of health and well-being education. As an Integrative Health Coach at UHP, you will lead adult learners through interactive instruction, real-world coaching practice, and personal transformation rooted in UHP's four pillars: Think, Train, Feel, Lead.

About Our Integrative Health Coaching Program

Our NBHWC-approved program trains coaches to honor that clients are the experts on their own lives, while coaches are the experts on the process of behavior change. UHP Integrative Health Coaches emphasize presence, deep listening, partnership, motivational interviewing, and powerful inquiry so clients discover their own answers and build lasting confidence. True empowerment comes from this partnership: the coach brings the process, the client brings the wisdom, and together they build a path forward.

You will collaborate with a cross-disciplinary team of experts in coaching, mental performance, graduate support, and operations to deliver a holistic learning experience. This role also plays an active part in curriculum development, interdisciplinary programming, and community-building on our 500-acre campus at the foot of the Ozark Mountains.

About UHP

UHP is an innovator in integrated health, well-being, and fitness education. We serve those transitioning from military service and other life chapters into meaningful careers in coaching, health, and leadership. Our programs are built around the mental, physical, and vocational transformation of every student. Our campus features world-class training facilities, modern living accommodations, a health-forward commercial kitchen, hiking and biking trails, and dedicated classroom and coaching spaces.

Key Responsibilities

Instruction and facilitation:

  • Lead engaging, experiential sessions on coaching process, behavior change theory, motivational interviewing, goal setting, ethics, and scope of practice.
  • Facilitate daily group instruction tied to the UHP pillars, including topics such as mindfulness, purpose, communication, self-management, self-care, and leadership.
  • Teach during day, evening, and weekend sessions as needed.
  • Favor experiential learning, skills practice, and reflective dialogue over conventional lecture-based delivery.
  • Foster a supportive, inclusive adult learning environment that encourages participation, self-discovery, critical thinking, and practical coaching skill development.

Coaching and mentorship:

  • Supervise and mentor students through coaching practicum experiences.
  • Observe real-time coaching and provide individualized, constructive feedback to refine presence, self-awareness, and communication skills.
  • Model professionalism, ethics, and excellence in the art and process of coaching.

Assessment and feedback:

  • Evaluate student performance through practical assessments and skill demonstrations aligned with National Board for Health and Wellness Coaching standards.
  • Deliver actionable feedback that supports certification readiness and long-term coaching development.

Collaboration and program development:

  • Work closely with Strength and Conditioning, Nutrition, Graduate Support, Operations, and other instructional staff to ensure a seamless learner experience.
  • Offer insight and feedback to support the continued evolution of curriculum and instructional tools.

Coaching philosophy fit:

  • Embody the qualities of coaching aligned with UHP's coaching philosophy, including a non-directive approach, deep listening, and modeling authentic coaching presence.
  • Hold space for students' lived experiences and partner with them to uncover their own insights, confidence, and next steps.
  • Bring a grounded, relational, and reflective presence that exemplifies the mindset and skills of an Integrative Health Coach.

Professional growth and leadership:

  • Maintain active NBC-HWC certification and pursue continuing education.
  • Stay current on emerging trends, best practices, and research in integrative health, behavior change, and adult learning theory.
  • Represent UHP's mission and values on campus and beyond.

Required Qualifications:

  • National Board-Certified Health and Wellness Coach, or eligibility to sit for the board exam in next exam cycle.
  • Master's degree in a health or wellness-related field, or a bachelor's degree plus a nationally recognized health-related license or credential such as RN, RDN, or ATC.

Preferred Requirements:

  • One to two or more years of health and wellness coaching experience, ideally with military, collegiate, or high-performance populations.
  • Experience facilitating adult learning environments and leading large groups.
  • Additional certifications in complementary fields such as mindfulness, mental performance, yoga, strength and conditioning, or nutrition.
  • Background in business, customer service, or brand-focused roles.
  • Military service.
