Key Responsibilities :
Join the mission-driven team behind Science In Motion (SIM), Juniata College’s dynamic STEM outreach program, as our next Part-time Budget Officer . Help ensure the financial health and operational success of a program that brings real-world science learning to schools across the region.
The Budget Officer is a part-time time 12-month position with no benefits and annual renewal based upon performance and funding.
The Budget Officer plays a critical behind-the-scenes role in managing the financial operations of the SIM outreach program. This part-time, year-round position is essential to maintaining compliance, transparency, and efficiency in support of SIM’s educational mission.
Key Responsibilities:
Manage and reconcile the SIM operating budget across multiple revenue sources
Monitor and record all revenue and expense activity; reconcile accounts with college reports
Create budget projections, prepare annual reports, and support strategic financial planning
Oversee and process institutional (p-card) purchases for SIM staff
Pay invoices and ensure adherence to contract requirements
Support SIM staff with purchasing, receiving deliveries, and providing light administrative support as needed

Strong working knowledge of basic bookkeeping and accounting principles
Proficiency in Microsoft Excel, including formulas and document linking
Self-motivated with the ability to work independently in a quiet or isolated workspace
Excellent communication skills and collaborative mindset
Professionalism in language, demeanor, and dress
Understanding of Juniata College’s mission and strategic goals
Supervision Required/Given:
This position reports directly to the Outreach Director and works closely with both the SIM team and the college’s accounting offices.
